True Friends

Once upon a time in a dense forest there was a huge banyan tree. Upon that tree lived different kind of birds and creatures. On the same tree also lived a pigeon and a partridge.
Both the pigeon and the partridge took great care of each other’s welfare and always lived together. Although the gigantic banyan tree was inhabited by number of creatures but the pigeon and partridge shared an exceptional bond of friendship with each other.
One evening, as the two friends were sitting and chatting together there came over a hunter with a bow and arrow. Having lost all his prey since morning the hunter was desperate to find an easy quarry. Just then he happened to notice the two birds resting on the banyan tree.
The pigeon had noticed the huntsman aiming towards them but before he could warn the partridge of the oncoming doom, the hunter’s arrow had already hit the poor partridge.
The arrow aimed towards the partridge had hit the ill fated bird but luckily it got caught in the aerial roots of the tree as the partridge fell on the ground.
The wounded partridge was lying on the ground fighting for its life in front of the eyes of helpless pigeon. Pigeon was restlessly hovering over its friend desperately thinking of ways to save its friend from the cruel huntsman.
Just then something stroked in its mind and the pigeon began piling up all the dried leaves lying on the ground upon the partridge who was descending into the faintness.
There the hunter who was coming running from the distance to collect its prey had no idea of the developments after his arrow had hit its aim. Upon reaching the massive tree the hunter was surprised to find nothing but loads of dried yellow leaves on the ground. Failing to locate both the arrow and the bird the hunter cursed his fate as he left the spot.
Just as the huntsman left the pigeon hastily took out his friend from under the pile of dried leaves and with the help of few other birds carried it to its nest.

Later under the care and nursing of pigeon the wound over partridge’s body got heeled up. The partridge was now even more proud of the special bond of friendship that he had nurtured with the pigeon.
